An Instagram announcement on Monday 15th May brought the curtain down on four wonderful seasons at Ammanford for Lee Trundle.
Signed in June 2019 the former Swans striker went on to make a massive impact at the club both on and off the pitch. A multitude of young players have benefitted from his experience and there is no doubt that many new fans have been gained since his signing.
Trundle continues to play with a youthful enthusiasm for the game. His time at Ammanford comes to an end at the age of 46 but be has led by example in leading Ammanford to Cymru South safety this past season, not only chipping in with some crucial goals but also a multitude of invaluable assists. Who can forget his equaliser at Barry Town to secure a precious point in the fight for survival?
Ammanford supporters are fortunate to have been able to witness Trundle’s fantastic range of trickery, close ball control (surely he must have a velcro strip across his chest) and lethal left foot finishes. The man dubbed ‘Magic Daps’ by Swans fans has certainly not disappointed.
Whilst it is difficult to pinpoint a highlight during his time at the club, a leading contender must be his brace of goals in front of the TV cameras away to then Welsh Premier team Carmarthen Town in the Welsh Cup in December 2019.
Trundle has been an excellent ambassador for both Ammanford and the league. A player who has kept his head high despite at times running a gauntlet of abuse when playing away to clubs further East due to his Swansea connections.
There is no doubt that his massive personality will be missed at The Rec next season.
Trundle has also been playing for Llanelli Town Veterans during the second half of the past season and he has already indicated his intention to carry on playing for a new club, it remains to be seen who that will be.
