CETMA Llanelli will be taking part in Adult Learners Week 2024 thanks to funding from The Learning and Work’s Innovation Fund.
Adult Learners’ Week is an annual campaign which celebrates and promotes learning opportunities for everyone. The campaign will run from 9th – 15th September 2024, with promotional activity & courses taking place throughout the month.
The campaign provides a focus to promote formal and informal opportunities and to celebrate lifelong learning and will showcase steps back into learning and opportunities to develop skills for work, life, health, and community connections.
Keith Evans-Hurley, CETMA’s Digital Inclusion Director said:
“We’re really looking forward to taking part in Adult Learners Week.”
“We will be targeting those who suffer from Digital Illiteracy and or need financial inclusion training. What we mean by Digital Literacy are people who predominantly use and own mobile phones or tablets but aren’t using them to their full potential.”
The dates and what bitesize courses on offer & dates will be:
- Tablets and You: Sep. 16th ~ 1pm-2pm
- Saving money online: Sep. 17th ~ 12pm-1pm
- Appsolutely Fabulous: Sep. 23th ~ 12pm-1pm
- Budgeting: Sep. 24th ~ 12pm-1pm
- Apps for first aid: Sep. 25th ~ 1pm-2pm
- Smart phone/tablet and job searching: Sep. 30th ~ 1pm-2pm
When asked for further comment on Adult Learners Week, Keith added:
“We placed the courses in this order as we believe it’s best to open with the absolute basics of using a tablet, because then there is a base level of knowledge any learners can take with them into the rest of the courses so they can fully take part without feeling left behind/unable to follow along if they choose to attend all of the courses.”
“At CETMA, we strive to support as many people as we can with getting through their digital illiteracy so we hope Adult Learners Week will encourage users to take the first steps of learning, so they can both know how to get online and then also have the knowledge to continue learning if they wish.”
