Communities are being asked to keep a watchful eye on their local schools during the summer holidays.

Neath Port Talbot Council is making the appeal to prevent vandalism to schools while pupils are away from their desks.
Vandalism to schools costs the authority thousands of pounds each year. Education officers are urging communities to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
Council Leader Ali Thomas, OBE said, “Every pound spent on vandalism is a pound that could be put towards a new text book or piece of equipment. I urge everyone, especially those living near schools, to be extra vigilant during the remainder of the school holidays.
He added, “Schools are not empty during the summer break – caretakers, administration staff and head teachers are still continuing with their duties.
“I ask anyone who may witness anything suspicious to contact the police immediately – it may prevent thousands of pounds of damage.”
