Four people have been fined for litter offences including a man who dropped a bag of dog mess.
Council environmental enforcement officers have been patrolling the county and have issued four fixed penalty notices for £75 in recent days.
Despite going to the trouble of cleaning up his dog’s mess, a 76-year-old man was the fined for dropping litter after he discarded it in Llwynhendy Road in Bynea.
A 19-year-old female was fined for dropping a drinks bottle and a 41-year-old man for throwing a cigarette end in Leekes car park in Cross Hands.
Finally, a 17-year-old male was caught discarding a takeaway drinks cup at Pembrey Country Park.
Failure to pay a fixed penalty notice could lead to court prosecution and a fine of up to £2,500.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “We are determined to clean up Carmarthenshire for both our residents and visitors and anyone caught dropping litter will be fined. Our enforcement officers carry out patrols across the county seven days a week.
“I am particularly disappointed that someone cleaned up their dog’s mess but then left it on the side of the road; if there is no litter bin nearby then you should take it home with you.”
