A focus group event took place at Cardiff Bay Police station today (12.1.16), which included PCSOs, members from Prevent and female members of the Muslim community of the city. The group watched the short film and followed with a discussion about the dangers of families living in Syria. The film, which was launched nationally by DAC Helen Ball, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, focuses on three Syrian refugee mothers – speaking directly to mothers in the UK about the realities of life in Syria and asking why any mother would want to take their family to live in a war zone.

“Today’s event was an excellent example of working effectively with our diverse communities to achieve positive outcomes. This video highlights the harsh reality of life for women and their families children in Syria, which is a dangerous war-torn nation.
“The film provides a credible voice that describes the true situation in Syria – and gives a warning to families not to travel there. In addition, although we are fortunate that we don’t have the amount of people travelling from Wales on the same scale as we have seen across the UK, it is still important to discuss these challenges.”
