Recently, I was beyond honored to be invited to spend the weekend with some incredible and inspiring people.

At one point I was sitting between Lisa Power MBE (co-founder of Stonewall, LGBTQ+ activist and in her own words “serial interferer”) and Bobbi Pickard (founder of Trans in the City, inclusion and diversity consultant and trans role model) and truly wanted to pinch myself as we laughed, shared stories and networked around a campfire as the stars and moon reflected on Cleddau Ddu below us.

It was a weekend I shall not forget and I am now so excited about the festival in June.

It was refreshing and revitalising; not just the location or the activities but also there is something empowering about being surrounded by like-minded women in a completely safe space.

Polly Shute, co-founder of Out and About, hosted the glamping weekend at the “Little Retreat” in Kilgetty which is also the site of the festival she is organising in June 2022 called Out and Wild. The site is nothing short of spectacular.

I will never get bored of the Welsh Coastline and feel fortunate to wake up looking out on it every day but this particular area is astonishing; the photos do not do it justice.

The glamping weekend really demonstrated how much the festival planned for June is needed and how much the community will benefit from it.

Polly is very keen to work with people from Pembrokeshire and surrounding areas as well as support charities and local companies too.

Polly says:

“We are really excited to be hosting what we believe is the UK’s first LGBTQIA Wellness Festival, designed by women for women but open to all.

“As well as the usual music and comedy stages there will be over 100 free experiences included in the ticket price, covering sport, wellness, foraging, crafts and spoken word.

“Lawrenny is the perfect location and aligns with the Welsh Government’s aim to be the most friendly LGBTQ nation in Europe”
