A Llanelli man has been given a 12 month conditional discharge after household waste was found fly-tipped in Trimsaran.
Kieron Moore, aged 36, of Heol Goffa, was also ordered to pay £450 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge by Llanelli magistrates.
He pleaded guilty to an offence under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 in that he failed to take all reasonable measures to ensure that the person he transferred waste to was an authorised person.
The court heard that in July last year council environmental enforcement officers were called to Mountain Road in Trimsaran where they found household waste had been dumped in four different locations along the highway.
Evidence was found linking the waste to an address in Swansea. The officers spoke to the residents who confirmed they had hired Moore to remove their waste.
However, during interview Moore said he had not taken any money to remove the waste and gave details of another man, who he said was the driver of the van used to remove the waste.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Keeping Carmarthenshire both clean and safe is a top priority for the council.”
