A LEADING Llanelli town councillor has claimed a Reform victory at next May’s Senedd election could jeopardise the prospect of a new special school for Ysgol Heol Goffa.

Shaun Greaney, who represents the  Labour in the Lliedi ward, warned the long-promised new school could fall by the wayside if Nigel Farage’s party take power because they could axe the current  Welsh Government’s ‘ ‘generous’ 75 per cent grant towards the total cost of the new building.

Councillor Greaney, who has also blasted Plaid Cymru for ‘delaying the new school by eight years and leaving pupils in the lurch’, said: ‘Reform have no policies for Wales, and no answers.

‘They couldn’t organise a P*** up in a brewery, let alone run a nation. They have some very right wing candidates and we know the right wing are no friends of children with special needs.’

He described the prospect of a  Reform-run Welsh Government after the Senedd elections as ‘frightening’ for families with children at  Ysgol Heol Goffa.

Councillor Greaney added: ‘The Plaid Cymru-run Carmarthenshire County Council should ‘get a move on with the decision on whether to proceed with a 150-pupil school or a 250-pupil school – if they genuinely care for Llanerlli’s children with Additional Learning Needs – before it is too late.’

Councillor Greaney continued: ‘There is a real prospect that Reform would pull the plug on the 75 per cent pot of money the county council can currently lay its hands on from the Welsh Government.

‘That makes a new school the number one priority for the county council in the opinion of the Labour Party locally. But the Plaid administration in Carmarthen are still dragging their heels on a firm decision.

‘They’ve made no public announcement on an official timeline for decision-making or progressing the school, and they have refused to meet with the Ysgol Heol Goffa action group, which spearheaded the campaign that forced them into a U-turn to reconsider building a new school.’

The action group had written to Plaid council leader Darren Price and cabinet member for education Glynog Davies urging them to meet to discuss the long-awaited project.

‘They may have tried to make a merit out of the fact that they ditched the original plan for a 125-place school, but they had taken a huge axe to the whole prospect of a new school until we gathered a 9,000 plus name petition from the good people of Llanelli to force them to even look at building a new school for Ysgol Heol Goffa.

‘The school the pupils are in is substandard and past its sell-by date.

‘That is fact, no matter how they try to spin the story to their advantage.’

He argued that hiring an independent expert to review the demand for Additional Learning Needs provision in Llanelli merely ‘kicked the ban further down the road’.

Councillor Greaney said: ‘We all knew Llanelli was crying out for a new special school. We all knew that the county council was sailing very close to the wind in its legal obligations to educate pupils with Additional Learning Needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions appropriately.

‘Now here we are, eight years down the line, and despite the political grandstanding by the party in power in Carmarthenshire – who have spent tens of millions on new schools and school buildings in their own backyards in that time – Ysgol Heol Goffa’s children, parents and staff are still waiting for action.

‘They should hang their heads in shame.

”If the new school doesn’t get built because Reform or a Reform-led coalition take power in the elections next May, each member of this disgraceful bunch in Carmarthen, will be infamous for failing hundreds of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Llanelli area.’

    • Kevin Lewis Reform followers are too easily swayed by false promises and don’t read any manifestos in the first place

      • Jake Riley you mean like the manifestos from the other parties that they always go back on . It’s time to get rid of the 2 party system and give someone else a chance

      • Jake Riley I never implied who you vote for I simply said it’s time to get rid of the 2 party system that’s been in power my whole life . It’s time to give someone else a chance.

      • Trev T Carpenter
Typical stereotypical reform response…….”It’s time to give someone else a chance”
No matter how incompetent that someone is, we should give them a chance?
If I ever need heart surgery, and the surgeon doesn’t manage to fix the problem first time, I’ll just request another operation, performed by his pet labrador instead 🤦

      • Phil Crocker so you don’t want change then 🤔 you say stereotypical response but all I see are people running them down calling them incompetent when the party in charge are the most incompetent party ever . You say we’re listening to Reform but it’s no different to you listening to whatever party you believe is the best . We’ve had 26 years of labour rule in Wales and we’ve got the worst NHS/education and job prospects in the whole of the UK . So even if Reform don’t get in they sure as hell have put a spanner in the works and showed the ones in power that they can’t just rely on idiots to keep them in the gravy train . You just vote for whoever you want. Neither of us are better than each other unless you think you’re more superior than Reform voters . If that’s the case then we are better than you

      • Trev T Carpenter
“Neither of us are better than each other unless you think you’re more superior than Reform voters . If that’s the case then we are better than you”

It takes some doing to contradict yourself in the same paragraph, bravo! 👏
It depends on how you define “better” and “superior” really, doesn’t it?
If by “better” and “superior” you mean more intelligent, intellectually superior, and having the ability to undertake factual investigation, rather than just swallowing the same old far right rhetoric spewed out by the usual suspects? Then, yes, I am “better” and “superior” 🤷

      • Phil Crocker so basically you admit that you think you’re better and more superior than someone with a different view than you and how have I contradicted myself please explain with your so called superior intelligence. What factual investigations are you talking about is it the ones from the far left . As you should know with your superior intellect the far right and the far left are no different .

      • Trev T Carpenter How did you contradict yourself?
You stated that neither of us are better than each other, but reform voters are better than me if I think I’m superior. That is a massive contradiction, and you don’t have to be intellectually superior to figure that out.
That said, you do have to be rather stupid, not too see how ridiculous your statement was.

      • Trev T Carpenter
Seeing as you’re such a big fan of the pale blue fascists.
Give me one ‘Wales specific’ reform policy, from their manifesto, that will improve the quality of life for the majority of Welsh people, if they win next year’s election.

      • Phil Crocker have you just woken up from a twenty four year coma?
Labour and Plaid are entirely responsible for the state we are in here in Wales
Reform have not caused any of it!

      • Carey Edwards I must have missed the part where I blamed Reform for it 🤷
        Oh right, I didn’t!
You also seem to be under the impression that Wales would be better under a reform government, so I’ll ask you the same question……..
Give me one ‘Wales specific’ policy, from their manifesto, that will improve the quality of life for the majority of Welsh people, if they win next year’s election.

      • Phil Crocker getting rid of Net Zero policies and taking action to stop Labour politicians in the Senedd from wasting millions on vanity projects and overseas aid
That should save a couple of hundred million
You may not have suggested that Reform are responsible for the current situation (and please read again) I did not accuse you of that, but you are most certainly stating they will make it worse
You can only speculate on that matter, the facts are that Labour and Plaid are responsible for our current woes
The author of the article seems to find fault with anyone and everyone who is not Labour even though they hold power in Westminster and Cardiff
Could these be the ravings of someone in panic?

      • Carey Edwards the good old net zero, Farage doesn’t have a clue, he wanted to reopen coal mines recently, considering they’ve closed down, he’d never get anyone to go down the mines these days anyway due to health conditions etc.

      • Emyr Evans that’s not relevant to net zero
I’m referring to the Milliband led drive for energy disaster
Farage must have some sort of a clue seeing at present all other parties are running scared

      • Carey Edwards
The same as you can only speculate that Reform will make things better.
You’re saying that getting rid of net zero policies will improve Welsh people’s quality of life. Surely slowing climate change, improving air quality and creating thousands of ‘green’ jobs is improving quality of life? Or maybe you’re one of those climate change deniers? If that’s the case, I have no time for you.

      • Carey Edwards all political parties are liars for the most part, it’s just obvious which ones are worse than others and unless you’re in the 1% reform won’t do anything for you, voting them in for somewhere like Llanelli is so laughable as barely any of their policies will make things better for us in any capacity unless you’re scared of coloured people

      • Allison Evans hugely constructive comment babe
You must have been up all night thinking of those razor sharp responses
I see I’ll have to ensure my guard is up at all times with you about

      • Carey Edwards
        Thank you,
I know,I have razor sharp wit,
It’s lovely to be appreciated ,
Some people are worth it ,
        The plastic Welsh in particular.
        Toodle pip.

      • Allison Evans just one small point regarding my cowardly failure to identify myself via a photo
You would appear to be identifying as a Yorkshire terrier!
The hypocrisy is a little staggering babe

      • Carey Edwards
        ” staggering “,I love that word ,
Was targeted by those on the Right,
It’s a shame that I was advised by th the police to take down any ” personal details ” that might identify me,
Some just don’t really advocate for real freedom of speech and don’t like being confronted by what they actually are,
        It’s been fun ,
        But I’m done now,
        Have a nice day.

      • Allison Evans how very convenient!
I think you’re the one who has run away when confronted
Simple really, spout nonsense, get confronted shut down the conversation
But yes have a nice day, no hard feelings

      • Trev T Carpenter have you seen how many councils they are messing up in England, they can’t even hold on to their MP’s

      • James Stevens this is Wales though not England . Also how many councils in the UK have gone bankrupt. How many are just in it for themselves . Are you happy with the way Carmarthenshire council are ruining it outside of carmarthen

      • Trev T Carpenter
“This is Wales though not England”
Which makes no difference whatsoever. Reform have form for not being able to run a tap, let alone a council. It will make no difference whether that’s in Wales, England or bloody Estonia!

      • Trev T Carpenter Reform don’t care for vulnerable people though, they’d happily get rid of services that are needed without looking at the consequences.

Will they fight for any money we are owed if they run the Senedd, or do we have to keep accepting peanuts from Westminster

      • James Stevens they might actually spend the money more wisely than the Muppets in charge now . What are your views on our tax money being spent on planting trees in Uganda when that money could be spent on things that would benefit the Welsh people .

      • Trev T Carpenter
Trev gets up every morning and waits for GB news and the Daily Mail to tell him what to get all angry and offended about today lol.

    • Well as you clearly think you’re more intelligent why don’t you do some of that factual investigations that you went on about and look it up yourself . And as for contradicting you should read it again .

      • Trev T Carpenter
How many times do I have to explain it you……
        1) You say nobody is better than anyone else.
        2) You then say that if someone says they are better than you, then you are better than them.
I’m not sure I can simplify it anymore for you to be honest.
Perhaps I should try writing it in crayon for you 🤦

      • Phil Crocker I said unless . Are you stupid of something 🤣🤣🤣 and you even said your intelligent . Don’t make me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

      • Trev T Carpenter So nobody is better than anyone else…….with conditions 🤣
Give it a rest you absolute weapon 🤦

      • Trev T Carpenter I notice you still haven’t been able to produce a Welsh reform policy that will make all our lives better, if they win the election. What a surprise!

      • Phil Crocker you still don’t get it do you I’m not a judgemental twat like you I’ve never judged you on your views but you seem to judge everyone else on theirs so that does make me a better person than you.

      • Phil Crocker does it really matter if I post any policies up for you as you have made your mind up already so it would be wasted on you

      • Trev T Carpenter No, I only judge people who support a fascist, English Nationalist party. That, in turn, is not “everyone”, so you’re talking shit once again I’m afraid.
And, no, it doesn’t make you a better person than me, or anyone else.
But, what makes me a better person than you, is that I don’t support fascists. It’s quite simple really.

      • Trev T Carpenter I’m seriously interested in why you think reform would be good for Wales, hence asking you for an example.
The real question is whether you won’t answer because you think it’s a waste of time, or because there isn’t one.
Personally, I think it’s the latter. So do it, and prove me wrong.

      • Trev T Carpenter Extreme nationalism, Populism (which almost always overlaps with Fascism) blaming minorities for the countries problems, lack of empathy for people with disabilities and addition needs.

      • Trev T Carpenter I didn’t ask for a link to the manifesto, I’ve already read it thank you.
I asked you to give me one ‘Welsh specific’ policy that YOU think will improve the quality of life of Welsh people, if they win next year’s Senedd elections.
Strange how this is the 3rd time I’ve asked you, and you’re still avoiding the question.

      • Phil Crocker so you’re talking about labour there and you’ve just contradicted yourself by saying blaming minorities for problems . So isn’t that what you’re doing .are you a fascist?

      • Trev T Carpenter Talking about labour? 🤣🤣🤣
        Now you’re just being silly.
What minorities am I blaming for the country’s problems?

      • Phil Crocker there’s plenty on there that will not only help the Welsh but the whole UK but like I said before you’ve made your mind up and you’re not going to change .

      • Trev T Carpenter We both know that the word minority, in the context of Fascism, means ethnic minorities, immigrants, disabled, etc. Stop being disingenuous.
If there’s plenty on there, then give me an example of one that will specifically help welsh people. After all, it’s the welsh senedd elections we’re talking about. Fourth time I’ve asked, still no answer.

      • Phil Crocker I gave you a couple when you asked the same question and as far as I’m presently aware you did not respond

      • Carey Edwards You may have noticed that I was a little preoccupied with the utter bollocks that Trev has been spouting.
Don’t worry, I’ll get around to giving you the attention, you clearly crave, when I have a few minutes spare.

      • Phil Crocker there is very little of your attention that I crave and your petty condescending response tells me a great deal about you
Yes I did note you bullying Trev whilst avoiding me
So when you have a moment from your obviously very important life please do respond
I look forward with great anticipation

      • Carey Edwards Yes, of course you don’t crave attention. Thats why you interrupted a conversation i was having with someone else, because you wanted me to reply to you.
Im glad i came across as condescending, because thats exactly what i was going for.
For me to want to avoid you, you’d have to matter to me in some way, or have some effect on my life. Neither of those things apply to you.
You’re a nobody, and if you think I care about what you think of me, you’re very wide of the mark I’m afraid.

      • Phil Crocker I’m interested in why you would be proud of being condescending?
It’s usually a trait borne of ignorance and arrogance, hardly attributes people aspire to
But then being a bully, you probably habitually display these attributes
So enough of your petty, petulant rhetoric and respond to my original reply, which you have been avoiding, as to what Reform will bring to Wales

      • Carey Edwards I choose to be condescending to certain people, because I despise their views. It’s a personal choice, and one which I enjoy.
As I previously stated, what you think of me is of no consequence, and has zero effect on me.
So you can judge me til the cows come home, it’s your time you’re wasting, not mine.
By the way, I will decide when it’s enough, not you. You have zero control over me.
P.S. I responded to your original reply half an hour ago.

      • Phil Crocker you sound just like a sad little narcissist. I will decide when it’s enough ,not you 🤣🤣🤣. What flavour crayon for you like best .

      • Trev T Carpenter Oh no, someone on the Internet called me a wanker, I don’t know how I’ll get over it! 😭
Still no progress on your favourite ‘Welsh specific’ reform policy yet, no? Didn’t think so.

      • Trev T Carpenter Oh Trev, you’re making yourself look silly again. That was a direct response to Carey saying “enough” of my condescension, or words to that effect.
You really need to pay more attention to conversations, before you interrupt them and make yourself look like a fucking goon.

      • Trev T Carpenter By the way, just in case you’re labouring under the misapprehension that I give a flying fuck about what you think of me……….I don’t.
In fact I don’t give a fuck about what anyone thinks of me, but especially when it’s some reform voting fuckwit who can’t string a coherent sentence together.
        Have a lovely evening Trev.
On second thoughts, no, have a really shit evening 😁👋

      • Trev T Carpenter I’m sorry, I was not inferring you were inferior to him, just that he was a thoroughly unpleasant individual in the way he responded to you
His responses to me, including that he enjoys being condescending to people he disagrees with confirm my opinion
Simply an arrogant self opinionated fool

      • Carey Edwards Oh no, please stop judging me, I can’t take it! You’re really upsetting me 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

      • Phil Crocker as you clearly believe in all your speculative delusions, here’s a piece of speculation for you to consider
The original post by a Llanelli Labour councillor was borne of abject fear
He witnessed Michelle Beer of Reform UK Llanelli take a seat in his ward with a huge majority over Labour
He also knows that if there was another election and he was standing against a Reform Llanelli candidate he would lose his seat
This is the reason for his ludicrous and unfounded statement
Nothing to do with the school but a pathetic attempt to hold on to his seat

      • Phil Crocker Ohh bless if you didn’t give a fuck what people think of you why do you still reply 🤣 are you that retarded that you can’t see that I’m taking the piss 🤣🤣🤣

      • Trev T Carpenter Ah bless you Trev, you think you’re taking the piss out of me, when in reality, you’re just making yourself look like a fucking idiot, and I’m sitting here pissing myself laughing at your replies.
Ah well, whatever gets you through the day eh 🤷

      • Trev T Carpenter Yeah, of course you are Trev 😉
Nice ablelist slur by the way. No wonder you love reform so much.

      • Trev T Carpenter Bless you Trev, you think that replying to someone means that you care what they think of you. You really do have some rather odd takes on things.
I implied that you were stupid earlier……..please carry on posting, as it confirms it.

      • Phil Crocker you call me stupid but you support Swansea so I take back the retard comment your a full blown spastic

      • Trev T Carpenter And there’s another one. Didn’t take much prompting for you to reveal your true self eh Trev.
Call me what you like mate, I’m still laughing 🤣

      • Phil Crocker this isn’t my true self 🤣 I’m even more of an asshole in person . I kind of tone it down on here 🤣🤣🤣

      • Phil Crocker I rest my case
Unable to respond so resort to a childish GIF
I note you were earlier castigating someone for being of lower intellect than you
        You couldn’t make it up
The tide is turning, the smoke and mirrors politics of Labour are no longer working
The bully boy lefty gaslighting has been exposed
Accept it your days are over
I look forward to your next Pepper Pig response

      • Carey Edwards My days are over? Fair play, you do have a sense for the dramatic 🙄
The gif was very apt, as more than two hours after my last reply, you’re back craving my attention.
I particularly like the way you think you can order me to obey your every word.
Let me put this in the simplest terms for you………
Your opinion of me, matters only to you.
You’re nothing to me, you’re a complete fucking nobody, and your opinions mean fuck all to me.
I’ll go to bed tonight and sleep soundly, without giving you a second thought. When I wake up tomorrow morning, I’ll have forgotten about you altogether. The only time I’ll be reminded of you again, is if you make another pathetic attempt to gain my attention.

  1. This has nothing to do with reform it’s all down to plaid but they’re just like labour and try and pass the buck .

      • Phil Crocker again this has nothing to do with Reform . This is just what a labour councillor is saying . Trying to blame something on a party that isn’t even in power . Like I said passing the buck and trying their best to stop people voting for Reform. Why aren’t labour and plaid doing something about the school NOW . It’s not rocket science. They can make decisions right now but they’re just blaming someone who isn’t even in power yet . Just goes to show how incompetent they are and the people who voted for them .

      • Trev T Carpenter If you actually read the article fully, you’ll see that he’s actually criticising Plaid for dragging their feet on the matter, and putting pressure on them to get it sorted before next year’s election, because he fears (quite rightly) that if reform win, they will pull the plug on the 75% contribution.
So, no, he’s not trying to blame something on a party that isn’t in power. He’s actually blaming Plaid, the party in power.
You clearly don’t understand the article. Try taking off your reform tinted glasses, and read it again.
