Dame Nia Griffith, Member of Parliament for Llanelli said:

“Yesterday’s announcement from the WRU has once again thrown more chaos and uncertainty onto our national game and served only to underline genuine, passionately held concerns amongst those who deliver and support it at a local and regional level.”

“The process to decide the future needs to be open, fair and transparent.  It should reward on pitch success, long term vision and build upon our nation’s cultural and sporting heritage by helping truly develop its potential, especially here in West Wales where we have both a proud history and strong foundations.”

“The Scarlets have already shown they can deliver on that need with increasing match attendances, a burgeoning production line of playing and coaching talent across all age groups and the best regional rugby stadium in Wales.”

“I will continue to work closely with them to stand up for regional rugby here in Llanelli and across the whole of West Wales.  Supporters, our local communities and those who have given their time, energy and commitment to our national game deserve nothing less.”
