This winter, The National Grid’s Electricity Distribution business along with Localgiving have awarded funding to CETMA to address fuel poverty and ensure energy affordability in their communities. As the temperature begins to drop, costly energy prices and the high cost of living still create major challenges to communities across the nation.
The funding is called The Community Matters Fund, and is targeted at grassroots organisations that serve economically disadvantaged areas and target historically underrepresented and marginalised groups.
Jonathan Williams, CETMA MD said:
“I’d like to thank the National Grid and Local Giving for awarding CETMA this funding which will go towards helping those facing financial hardship, homelessness, and lack of access to essentials like food, and heating.”
“Our offices in Swansea, Kidwelly and Llanelli offices will each be providing a warm space, where anyone can come for help with a range of issues. In addition to this, we’re also able to help with access to getting online, National Data Bank and emergency food parcels (in Partnership with PBP Foodbank).”
The project will see CETMA create and distribute 80 winter warm packs. Typical packs will contain radiator keys, clothing, draft excluders, foil etc and will be available from CETMA offices and at events. Some packs may have other items or be tailored to a client group.
How to access support?
- Contact an office to arrange to speak to a staff member.
- They’ll run through a simple checklist to see if you’re receiving all the support you need.
- They’ll provide you with tips to help save energy and keep your home warm.
- They may refer you to an organisation who can help reduce fuel poverty/improve energy efficiency
