2 down and 3 more to go. Throughout this year’s 6 Nations I’ll be highlighting beers to enjoy the Rugby with, it’s that time of year where I tend to spend a lot of time laying down in fields with beer, taking photos of course!

Next up is GLAMORGAN – DEAD CANARY IPA 5.0% abv

Kicking us off this week is a belter from Glamorgan Brewing Co. featuring in this month’s Welsh Beer Club, let’s hope Wales are as strong and punchy as this beer.

Now based in Llantrisant, Glamorgan Brewery has a proud history. Founded in 1994 by John Anstee in Gorslas, South Wales. It evolved from a local supplier into a major independent Welsh brewery, later rebranding and moving to Llantrisant in 2015, where it maintains its roots by featuring a Red Kite, a nod to its original Kite Brewery identity – look closely and you’ll find a silhouetted kite on every bit of artwork they release.

Here we have a full force IPA brewed in honour of the canaries who made the ultimate sacrifice. Clear and slightly dark amber gold in appearance with a pronounced white head. Fresh, citrusy and slightly piney, it has a balance of biscuit-like malt sweetness and fruity hop bitterness. A more punchy offering than the usual IPAs, it has a rounded mouthfeel, refreshing with moderate carbonation. Well worth a try!

Included in our Rugby Ready 12 Pack and the Welsh Beer Club Subscription.
