Labour Senedd Candidate Calum Higgins welcomes plans for Swansea Bay Metro link to Ammanford and beyond.
Proposals to link Ammanford and Llanelli to a network that includes new stations across Swansea area, including the DVLA have been welcomed by Welsh Labour’s top candidate for Sir Gaerfyrddin at the Senedd elections in May.
The ambitious vision from Transport for Wales forms part of a £14bn programme backed by the UK and Welsh governments, with leaders claiming it could transform travel, boost business and create thousands of jobs across South West Wales.
Calum Higgins, from the Amman Valley said:
“It’s great to see Welsh Labour’s commitment to investing in public transport being extended to West Wales, including Llanelli, the Amman Valley, and West Carmarthenshire.
It’s vital for the Carmarthenshire economy that we have rail and bus services that connect to our nearest city of Swansea and its major employers and attractions.”
“The Heart of Wales train line and line from Swansea to Llanelli through Carmarthen and further west needs is a priority based on these plans. It would open up our economy and provide much better transport links for West Wales.
“If elected in May I’ll be pushing for this project to be delivered for the people Carmarthenshire as soon as possible so we are even better connected and can benefit from the growth in jobs it would bring”
