JAILED | Llanelli woman sentenced to four years in prison for shoplifting and robbery offences
Kara Racuoco, 41, of Elizabeth Street, Llanelli, has been jailed for four years after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and two counts of shoplifting following incidents reported at Asda, Home Bargains and Tesco.
Racuoco pleaded guilty to shoplifting from Home Bargains and Tesco during two separate incidents in May 2026, but initially denied the two separate robbery charges.
A trial was set to take place in late October 2026, but Rocuoco changed her plea at a hearing in early August where she confessed to the robberies.
The court heard how on Tuesday 7 April, Racuoco stole two bottles of wine from Asda on Murray Street, Llanelli, and threatened to stab a shop assistant with a needle after being challenged about the theft.
It was further heard how on Tuesday 5 May, the 41-year-old entered Home Bargains and placed a bottle of wine in her pocket before leaving the store, making no effort to pay.
The third charge related to an incident on Saturday 16 May where Racuoco threatened a shop assistant at Asda, after stealing two joints of beef from the shop.
The court also heard how, the next day, on Sunday 17 May, Racuoco carried out a further shoplift at Tesco Extra, Parc Trostre, where around £95 worth of meat was stolen from the shop.
An investigation led by Dyfed-Powys Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) saw Racuoco charged with two counts of shoplifting and two counts of robbery.
On Friday 2 October, Racuoco was sentenced to four years in prison.
DS Kevin Allen, of Llanelli CID said: “This result shows our commitment to tackling criminal behaviour at a local level. Shoplifting and robbery are both serious crimes, and we will not tolerate such lawless behaviour in our force area.
“I’d like to thank the team for their efforts which have ultimately led to this serial offender being sentenced to prison.”
