A musical stage adaptation based on the bestselling picture book, The Smartest Giant in Town, by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is headed to Carmarthen’s Lyric Theatre over the Easter holidays.
Following a critically acclaimed run at Little Angel Theatre in London last summer, The Smartest Giant in Town has embarked on a UK-wide tour which includes two dates in Carmarthen on Thursday and Friday 21st and 22nd of April.
Celebrating 20 years since publication this spring, The Smartest Giant in Town is a heart-warming and vibrant tale about friendship and helping those in need. The bestselling book is brought to life in a 50-minute musical, puppet-filled adventure.
George wishes he wasn’t the scruffiest giant in town. So when he sees a new shop selling giant-sized clothes, he decides it’s time for a new look: smart trousers, smart shirt, stripy tie, shiny shoes. Now he’s the smartest giant in town… until he bumps into some animals who desperately need his help – and his clothes!

The Smartest Giant in Town was first published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2002.
The Smartest Giant in Town will be at the Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen on Thursday 21st April at 1:30pm and 4pm and Friday 22nd April with performances at 11am and 1:30pm.
