A SITE at Morfa Berwick in Bynea has been designated as Carmarthenshire’s newest Local Nature Reserve.
People are now being urged to visit it as part of the celebrations for Wales Biodiversity Week taking place from June 4 – 12.
Local Nature Reserves (LNRs) are for both people and wildlife, they are places with wildlife or geological features that are of special interest locally.
They offer people special opportunities to study or learn about nature or simply to enjoy it.
Carmarthenshire’s Biodiversity Partnership is inviting people to join them at the newly designated site at Morfa Berwick to discover the wildlife there.
The county council’s executive board member for biodiversity Cllr Pam Palmer said: “From botany to birdlife and bees to bats a week of events have been arranged so that people can find out more about the wildlife on this fascinating site – Carmarthenshire’s newest nature reserve.
“At first glance Morfa Berwick might not seem that exciting but there is a lot to see when you take a closer look.
“So if you are an early bird join us for a walk to catch the bird song or if you are a night owl come along to the bat and moth evening.
“There are also walks with the Llanelli Naturalists and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.”
