Local Squabbles mustn’t get in the way of City Deal
A new report by the Growth & Competitiveness Commission has called for more collaborative working to ensure the Cardiff city region achieves its potential.
The report also calls for more affordable homes to be built, and stresses the need to improve transport links.
Responding to the report’s findings, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and South Wales Central AM, Andrew RT Davies, said that “local squabbles” must not be allowed to get in the way.
He said:
“The City Deal is a huge opportunity for the region to cast aside the ghosts of past economic failures.
“But to achieve its full potential requires co-operation and a determination to succeed, and none of this can be taken for granted if petty local squabbles are allowed to get in the way.
“This report is a timely reminder and a wake-up call for all parties. This is an exciting project, but we need to work together to ensure that we’re not looking back in ten years at a missed opportunity.”
