Hospital campaign to make case for Prince Philip Hospital at Senedd
The group leading the campaign to save services at Prince Philip Hospital, SOSPPAN, has been called upon to give evidence to the Welsh Assembly’s Petitions Committee.
This comes after the Save Our Services at Prince Philip Action Network submitted a petition to save Llanelli’s hospital signed by around 13,000 people last September. The petition was organised in response to Hywel Dda Health Board’s consultation which included an option to downgrade PPH.
Officers from SOSPPAN attended a Petitions Committee meeting at which their petition was considered on Tuesday (the 15th of January), where they were told that they would be given the opportunity to make their case to the committee. This evidence session is likely to take place some time in February.
Cllr Louvain Roberts, Chair of SOSPPAN said: “This is another victory for the SOSPPAN campaign. I am delighted that we will have the opportunity to give evidence to the Welsh Assembly Petitions Committee and make the case to keep services at Prince Philip Hospital and scrutinise Hywel Dda.”
SOSPPAN’s Secretary, Cllr John Prosser said: “Now that we have had confirmation from Hywel Dda that Prince Philip will remain as a general hospital with acute medicine, we must make sure the Health Board keeps its promises and retains the full range of services in Llanelli.
“SOSPPAN will keep up the pressure on Hywel Dda to honour its commitments and does the right thing for people living in Llanelli and the surrounding areas.”
