MAN WHO PUT LLANELLI’S SEASIDE AREA ON STANDSTILL APPEARS IN COURT
A man who put the Seaside area of Llanelli to a virtual standstill just days ago appeared at Llanelli Law Courts this morning (March the 28th). Firearms officers from Dyfed-Powys Police attended a reported disturbance in Burry Street, Seaside Llanelli at just after 2am on March the 26th amid reports of a man brandishing a crossbow weapon which included making threats to kill in a public place.
Robert Joseph Samuel, age 27 of Heol Bryngwili in Cross Hands appeared in the dock with his right arm in cast and a sling before the District Judge. Offences put forward to the defendant were possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, making threats to kill and possession of the class B drug cannabis.
Gemma Roberts representing stated that no pleas would be entered on behalf of her client due to his request for a mental health and fitness assessment. After this time, it is hoped that pleas will be entered.

District Judge Christopher James stated:
“I deem the nature of these offences to be so serious that they’re strictly beyond my sentencing powers at this court. No plea has been entered today, so I’ll take that as four not guilty pleas at this moment in time.
“I’m sending these matters to Swansea Crown Court for purpose of trial. You will appear there on April the 29th. In the meantime I’m remanding you in custody until your next court appearance where you will appear for a plea and preparation hearing. The reason that I’m remanding you in custody is that I’ve reason to believe that if released, you may commit further offences.”
