Wayne Stephens; the clubs General Manager, and former academy director has taken on the new Head of Coaching role for the Reds.
Having initially setup the academy 3 seasons back – Wayne has continued to show his commitment, dedication and passion to the club – taking charge of the U19s Development team last season; with many players making first team appearances.
The role is part of the new FAW/UEFA criteria – and allows clubs to take further steps to increase the standards, both on and off the field.
The main responsibilities of the role are;
• To develop players & Increase the amount of better players in Wales
• To establish a sustainable system and approach to coach development within the Academy.
• To develop coaches so that they improve and perform to the best of their potential and are consequently able to maximise the potential of the players that they work with.
• To develop community links so that sustainable relationships are built and perform to the best of their potential.
Many of the points had already been undertaken by Mr Stephens as part of the initial academy setup.
Wayne is currently undergoing his A Licence with the FAW, following in the footsteps of some of the sports biggest names in recent years- like Thierry Henry and Peter Crouch.
