It’s a Wonderful Life: a live radio play coming to a Carmarthenshire Theatre near you this Christmas
This festive season, Lighthouse Theatre bring their unique blend humour pathos and quirky storytelling to create a piece of seasonal magic for the whole family, It’s a Wonderful Life: a live radio play. And there are three opportunities to enjoy this special production in Carmarthenshire as you can see the play at The Miners, Ffwrnes and the Lyric Theatre in the run-up to Christmas.
Inspired by the classic American film, It’s a Wonderful Life: a live radio play is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience.
With the help of an ensemble of six actors and a live foley artist creating the sound effects, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. It will take help from a lovable angel, Clarence, for George to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the Christmas.
With live music and a cast of six actors bringing a radio recording studio and the town of Bedford Falls to life, Lighthouse Theatre presents this ingenious staging of a timeless classic film and seasonal favourite.
With strong Welsh connections, the cast stars Daniel Llewlyn Williams as George Bailey (Winner – Best Actor Theatre Wales Awards 2015), Adrian Metcalfe, Sonia Beck, Melangell Dolma, Joanna Lucas and Keran Bailey and James Ifan. Joe Harmston directs (Best Director Evening Standard Award 2015) An original musical score has been composed by emerging Cardiff based composer Rob Singer. Nationally recognised set designer, Sean Cavanagh from Abergavenny, with a strong track record for touring theatre productions, has created the set.
