Pembrey & Burry Port Town Council Appoints New Town Clerk

Pembrey & Burry Port Town Council has announced the appointment of Huw Thomas to the post of Town Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer.

Mr Thomas has years of experience in the fields of senior management and financial control, and has a deep understanding of the community. He attended Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade before studying accountancy in Swansea, and is a fluent Welsh speaker.

The Town Mayor, Cllr Lisa Mitchell, said: “We are very fortunate to find someone with his experience and qualifications who is also born and bred in our community because a strong connection and a deep understanding of the people we serve is very important to the Council”

Cllr. David Owens, who Chairs the Finance, Governance and Personnel Committee of the Council stated “as the Council does more and more, financial control and appropriate processes are of the highest priority and in Huw Thomas we have secured the right person to be in control of these matters”

Huw Thomas said, “I am thrilled and excited at the prospect of serving my own community in this post. We face a challenging future and it will be an honour to work with this forward looking Council in doing all we can to respond to the days ahead”
