Create At Greenspace is a community association based in Ferryside, which provides arts and crafts classes for individuals suffering from disabilities, including mental health conditions, and those on low incomes. Its members have been busy over the past several months with a particular project intended to help gather support for the people of Ukraine; the creation of an embellished, reversible, hand-made patchwork quilt.
As the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine continues, local community groups are doing their best to support those suffering in Ukraine. Members of the Greenspace wished to raise special thanks to Jan Banfour, who patiently sewed most of the squares for the quilt together.
Dorothy Morris got in touch with us to share awareness of their raffle, the proceeds of which are being raised for the Red Cross Ukrainian Humanitarian appeal. Dorothy had this to say:
“My dad was an Ukrainian refugee who settled in Waunarlwydd after WW2. He was also a director of the Ukrainian club in Morriston. This war is particularly heartbreaking and I’m glad my dad can’t see what is happening to his beautiful country.”
Tickets are available from Greenspace Gallery in Ferryside, open Wednesday to Saturday 11am to 4pm. Alternatively, Dorthy can be contacted directly for ticket purchase online at: dorothy_morris@hotmail.com.
