Carmarthenshire County Council has launched a formal consultation on proposals to re-locate Heol Goffa School in Llanelli and increase its capacity to 150 pupils.
Agreed at its Cabinet meeting on Monday 1 June 2026, the consultation follows the previous Cabinet decision to develop a new school to increase capacity and meet the current projected demand.
Parents, teachers, pupils, school governors and the wider school community have until Tuesday 21 July to have their say via an online survey or in writing to:
Mr Owain Lloyd,
Director of Education and Leisure,
County Hall,
Castle Hill,
Carmarthen,
SA31 1JP.
Alternatively, responses can be sent via e-mail.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Glynog Davies, said:
“The launch of this consultation is the next step towards Carmarthenshire County Council’s delivery of a new 150 pupil Heol Goffa school.
We are asking the school community to have their say on these proposals and help to shape the development of an increased education provision for pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound learning difficulties (PMLD) in the Llanelli area.”
