The international broadcast and performances voices of the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and Angelicus Celtis, under the baton of John Hywel Williams MBE, are enjoying a fun and busy Autumn and Christmas concert season.
The choir with 25 international concert tours and over 200 television and radio broadcasts spanning 120 countries to his legacy enjoyed two performances in the last fortnight including a performance at Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall in aid of the Maggie’s Swansea charity, an event which raised over £75,000 for the charity.
The choristers are looking forward to four exciting performances over the coming 2 months in the lead up to Christmas.
A Festival of Young Voices
Local audiences will be treated to ‘A Festival of Young Voices’ in November. Hosted by the conductor John Hywel Williams MBE, the Festival will feature an incredible seven youth choirs from the the Llanelli area, led by the international broadcast and performance voices of the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, the TV acclaimed and stars of Britain’s Got Talent Angelicus Celtis and the wonderful youthful voices of  Bigyn Primary School Choir, Halfway Primary School Choir, Stebonheath Primary School Choir, St. Mary’s Primary School Choir and Ysgol Pen Rhos School Choir – with organist Huw Tregelles Williams OBE, pianist Piet Zorn and orchestral percussion Gareth Hamlin.
The exciting Festival of Young Voices will be held on at 7.30pm on Friday 15 November at Greenfield Chapel and will take audiences on an exciting journey of song spanning musical theatre, Welsh folk, opera, classical, sacred and much more. The performance is part of the Hywel Choir’s School Outreach programme which over recent years has support local primary schools and pupils with scholarships, workshops and the performance opportunities with symphony orchestras and at great concert halls. Christmas, Choirs and Cakes at the Castle
To welcome the Christmas season, the Hywel Choir and Angelicus Celtis will host a ‘Christmas, Choirs and Cakes at the Castle‘ in the beautiful surroundings of Stradey Castle, Llanelli at 3pm on Sunday 1st December where guests will be treated to beautiful festive music, Christmas readings and scrumptious afternoon tea and cakes in one of Carmarthenshire’s premier country homes with beautiful music by th Hywel Choirs, Angelicus Celtis, pianist Huw Tregelles Williams and conductor John Hywel Willaims. The Great Christmas Proms – Symphony and Sound at Christmas
The choir will finish the year in great style with their traditional and ever-popular “Great Christmas Proms – symphony and sound at Christmas” which will see over 200 performers unite for the choir’s famous Christmas spectacular on Saturday 14th December at Y Ffwrnes, Llanelli. The event will feature the acclaimed voices of the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, Angelicus Celtis, the symphonic sounds of the British Sinfonietta Orchestra, the mighty voices of the Morriston RFC Choir, organist Huw Tregelles Williams, orchestral percussionist Gareth Hamlin – all under the baton of John Hywel Williams. 2020 and a welcome to new choristers
Performances for 2020 are already firming up for the choir which includes performances with Only Men Aloud, Katherine Jenkins and the British Sinfonietta Symphony Orchestra.
