The new school in Llandysul, Ysgol Bro Teifi, opened in September 2016, replacing Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, which is now surplus to the requirements of the Council.
Initial consultation was undertaken with Llandysul Community Council and the local member in order to establish whether there was interest in the property for community use. Llandysul Community Council had no interest in taking on the property, and there were no other expressions of interest from the community, other than for enquiries about some of the fixtures and fitting and machinery.
Interest has been received very recently from community groups for the purchase of the site. By taking this into consideration, Cabinet approved to withdraw the property from the auction scheduled for 30 of September and put the property up for sale on the open market with a closing date of 20 January, 2017, marketed by the Council’s estates department.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic and Community Development Services, said, “The Cabinet have listened to the Llandysul community and amended the recommendations for the sale of the site. This will give individuals, groups, businesses or any interested parties the opportunity to submit offers for Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi site.”
Following the closing date, all offers will then be reviewed for best value taking into account financial and community benefit. If no offers are received or that no offers received are acceptable then the property to be placed for sale at a future auction at an appropriate reserve price. If the property fails to sell at auction then a further report will be taken to Cabinet.
