Students, staff and managers are uniting to protest against Welsh Government cuts that could mean up to 60 job losses and cuts to courses next year.
A lunch time protest has been organised by staff and students to draw attention to drastic changes to further education in Wales.
The protest will be held between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday April 22. Organisers are expecting hundreds of students and staff to turn out to voice their complaints.
Steve Jones from teachers’ union, UCU, said: “We are facing cuts which we think will not only affect the livelihood of those losing their jobs but also increase the stress on those left who have to pick up the extra workload.”
Amy Prior, president of the Students Union said: “The Welsh Government is cutting funding for part-time courses and we are facing cuts to teaching time on full-time courses.“
Unions at the college are looking for support from local politicians and have called on Welsh Government to reconsider the financial settlement.
Staff and students are also planning to take to social media with a Twitter campaign using #FECrisis to draw attention to the cuts.
