Pembrokeshire Libraries recently ran their first ever Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robot event at Fishguard Library.
During the two hour session, children learnt how to build a basic Lego Robot and then had great fun learning how to program the robot using the library iPads.
There were robots making noises, flashing lights and moving and spinning around the room!
The children then added some different sensors onto the robots to enable them to stop at a certain colour or a certain distance away from a wall.
The event was a big hit, with some great feedback including “I had an amazing awesome time” and “it was really fun!”
Lego Robots are a fun way for children to develop key skills in team work, mechanics, engineering and computer coding. They were purchased for Fishguard Library as part of the recent Life Hub project, funded by Welsh Government.
The ‘Life Hub: Work and Money Skills’ was created to provide space and resources in Fishguard Library which are dedicated to the themes of job-seeking, career development, financial wellbeing and skills development.
The space, resources and equipment are available for organisations to use.
