Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are urging dog walkers to take care when near to waterways and riverbanks after the service’s water first responder trained rescue team successfully rescued a Labrador yesterday who had accidently fallen into a fast flowing river near to Llangennech.
The Officer in command of the incident Geraint Thomas added,
“Thankfully, we were able to recover the dog from the river bank using reach poles and wading gear. We urge those who walk dogs to take great care near riverbanks and waterways. With the rain that we have had over the past few days, water is fast flowing and very dangerous. We were able to help on this occasion but such an incident could easily end in tragedy”.
In addition to this incident, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have received a spike in flood related calls over the past 24 hours. South Carmarthenshire has been mostly affected by localised flooding, closely followed by the Swansea area.
