Pembrokeshire County Council’s proposals to reorganise secondary schools in the county are being reconsidered pending the outcome of statutory consultation.
The Council announced plans to reorganise secondary school and Welsh medium education in the Mid and North West of the county last year and since then there has been widespread consultation with staff, parents, governors and pupils on the issue. The consultation report will be presented to Council on 16th of July.
The report shows clearly that there is a wide range of opinions regarding the proposals across the affected areas and that further work, including discussions with the Trustees of the Tasker Milward and Picton charity, should be carried out over the summer.
“We have always aimed to be as open and transparent as possible throughout this whole process of school reorganisation,” said Councillor Sue Perkins, Cabinet Member for Education and Safeguarding.
“We feel it would be best for everyone to resolve the outstanding issues, and concerns raised by the Trust, before we proceed any further,” she said.
“Once these have been resolved a further report will go to full council in September.”
