In 2018 as a family of sea-farers we were very excited to see the new Lifeboat Station in Burry Port being built. We are all avid water sport enthusiasts and members of RNLI so we decided to initiate some fundraising activities.
Our daughter Beccy,who is a professional musician flew down from the North of England and held a gig at the Shoreline Club. This was a great success and raised a welcome £460.
Since then we have continued to support the charity in various ways and this year I completed the Mayday Mile which raised £240 – (as I am nearly 82 years old one mile was just far enough!)

More recently, from the sale of goods which have been made and donated by local people in the community, we were able to present a cheque for £175 to the awesome team at the Lifeboat Station.
That day there were no less than 6 call outs for both lifeboats to be launched – 5 within 3 hours! Rescues ranged from towing a stranded fishing vessel to harbour, assistance for a broken down yacht, plus 8 casualties and 3 dogs, cut off by the tide at Tywyn Point and ferried to safety by both lifeboats.
It was so special and humbling to meet the courageous crew and members of the committee. It was also a welcome opportunity to display some of the fantastic craft items donated.
May I take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all who support our on-going fundraisers – each one of you is valued for your dedication and the heart you have for our local RNLI and the volunteers who so gallantly serve us by saving lives and making our seas and coasts safer places to enjoy..
