Match day motorists visiting the Liberty Stadium in Swansea are being urged to park their cars legally or risk being towed away.
The advice by Swansea Council follows the removal of a car during the Swans last home game where a driver had blocked access to a nearby street.
The incident led to local police calling on the services of a tow vehicle to remove the vehicle because it was preventing residents access the street and also fears emergency vehicles could not access the street if required.
David Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation, said: “Our own parking enforcement team is working alongside local police to ensure that residential areas near to the stadium are not disrupted by selfish parking.
“We have worked with the stadium to provide adequate parking facilities for those attending matches.
“We want fans to have a good time visiting the Liberty Stadium, but what we don’t want is nearby residents to be trapped in their own streets by motorists who show no consideration.
“Hopefully the latest action will make some motorists think a bit more about where they park.”
Council Parking Enforcement Officers will continue to patrol parking hotspots during the next match against Southampton, targeting motorists that ignore restrictions, parking on double yellow lines and in residential parking zones.
Additional parking enforcement measures have recently been introduced along main roads near the stadium, including Pentreguinea Road and Pentrechwyth Road.
Cllr Hopkins added: “Main roads near to the stadium need to be kept clear and we will be doing what we can to tackle this issue. We will also be using the camera enforcement van to pick up on illegal parking so that our enforcement officers can concentrate on other hotspots.”
