Praise has been heaped on talented people suffering with mental ill-health who have been exhibiting their art to the public.

Artists were impressed with the work of Llanelli charity Links’ members which went on display at the Origin co-operative gallery in King Street, Carmarthen.

The exhibits featured photographs, artwork, jewellery, craft and pyrography – all skills taught at Links, which is a unique mental health charity based in Queen Victoria Road, Llanelli.

Moria Williams, who is a glass artist at Origin, said:

“The artists and makers of Origin co-operative have been really pleased to welcome Links Llanelli to exhibit in the windows of their gallery on King Street, Carmarthen.

“Creativity is a vital part of day to day life for us – not only as a means of earning a living, but also for a sense of well-being and happiness, so to be able to support those living with mental health illness and enable them to see their work on show and selling has been wonderful.”

Links general manager, Michele Rees, said:

“It is great to see the exceptional work that our members produce at Links being showcased on public display at this exhibition.

“All of the work on display has been created by members who suffer with or experience mental health illness.

“Our members’ hard work and talent is both commendable and inspirational.

“Creative and therapeutic arts improve members’ mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

“ I am so proud of all the staff and members involved in organising this exhibition.

“The impact that such events have on our members’ wellbeing is immeasurable.”
