CETMA is extremely pleased to announce that it has partnered with Hubbub to join their Community Fridge Network will be opening a Community Fridge in Kidwelly!
Hubbub coordinates the world’s largest Community Fridge Network with a whopping 250 Community Fridges now running across the UK. Thanks to Co-op, they’re currently working on doubling the network by funding a further 250 new fridges!
This will save a total of 34 million meals from going to waste annually across the network of 500 fridges.
Gayna Bras, Project Officer said:
“A community fridge is a space where anyone can exchange food that would
otherwise go to waste.”
“They’re run by local volunteers, and many fridges also provide a positive social space for local visitors to learn more about food, sustainable eating, growing your own and eating on a budget.”
The UK’s first community fridge was trialled in 2016. Since then, 100s of community fridges have taken root across the UK helping thousands connect
