Gŵyl Canol Dre:

Our Welsh festival, Gŵyl Canol Dre will be back again this year! The festival will be held in Parc Myrddin on the 6th of July! Workshops, entertainment, stalls, activities and much more – something for everyone! We look forward to seeing you there!

New Staff:

Welcome to Mari Phillips who has been appointed as Development Officer for Carmarthen and the Surrounding Areas during maternity leave. We are very excited to have Mari as a member of the team and wish Betsan Lewis well as she begins her maternity period.

Baby Reflexology:

Another series of Baby Reflexology sessions will start on the 1st of May. 4 sessions from 10am to 11.30am will be held in the Peniel School Community Hall. The sessions will cost £35 for 4 sessions. To register contact betsan@mgsg.cymru.

National Wool Museum Story Session:

A monthly Story Session is held at the Wool Museum in Drefach Velindre. The session will start at 1.30 pm. Note the dates and come and join us on: 16.5.2024; 20.6.2024; 18.7.2024; 19.9.2024; 17.10.2024; 21.11.2024. There will be an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a story, sing along and socialise.

Gŵyl Fach Newy’:

This year, Gŵyl Fach Newy’ will be held on Saturday the 8th of June in Newcastle Emlyn Park. The festival will be from 11 am to 2 pm. Activities will be organised by OT Coaching and a number of other organisations that will be present on the day. There will also be various stalls and much more. Something for everyone!

Y Cwis Mawr (The Big Quiz):

Do you enjoy a quiz? Y Cwis Mawr will be held in Y Sgwâr, Newcastle Emlyn at 7.30 pm on Thursday the 13th of June. Learners and fluent speakers are warmly welcome to create teams to compete on the night. For more information contact nia@mgsg.cymru.

Bryndioddef Race:

The Bryndioddef Race is back! There will be an opportunity for children and adults to run all the way to the top of Bryndioddef hill and back on Tuesday night 18th June. Put on your running shoes and come to Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club. The races will be held between 5 and 8.30 pm. More details to follow about the order of the races. Keep an eye out!

Easter Activities:

There was a lovely morning at Yr Atom in Carmarthen with the ‘Easter Fun’ activity. It was great to collaborate with the Atom and Cylch Meithrin Myrddin. There was an opportunity to enjoy a Story and Song Session, Messy Play and Crafts. Over 30 families took part in the activity where there was plenty of laughter and enjoyment.

In addition, Easter egg hunts were organised in St Clears and Newcastle Emlyn. Thanks to the shops in both towns for their support, to the Premier in Newcastle Emlyn for sponsoring the prizes and to all the families who took part in the hunts.

Story sessions:

Our story sessions in Carmarthen and in the Taff Valley area continue every fortnight. Join us in these story sessions. Contact gwyneth@mgsg.cymru to register or for further information.

Drama Clubs:

Menter, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and the Egin offer two drama clubs for children in the area, Clwb Joio Drama for years 1-3 on Wednesday evenings from 5-5.45pm and for years 4-6 from 6-7pm. The clubs are held in Yr Egin, Carmarthen. An opportunity for children to learn skills, gain confidence and enjoy. To register, contact betsan@mgsg.cymru.

New Speakers:

Come and join our chatting sessions! New and fluent speakers are welcome in each.

Coffi a Clonc is an opportunity to get together to chat and socialise over a cup of tea every Thursday morning at 10.30am on Zoom. This activity is suitable for learners or fluent speakers. To receive the link contact ymholiad@mgsg.cymru   

Menter co-organises Paned a Sgwrs sessions at Caffi’r Atom, every Tuesday from 10-11am. An opportunity to chat and socialise over a cup of tea.

Paned a Phapur sessions are held at the Wool Museum, Drefach-Velindre on Wednesdays every two weeks. And Shwmae and Siarad sessions are held once a month on Friday mornings at Cwtch Coffi Cafe, the old football club, Newcastle Emlyn between 10:30-11:30. Looking forward to seeing you there.
