As technology continues to advance and become more accessible, many everyday services that once required in‑person visits are now shifting online. Government application and appeal forms for benefits and other essential matters are among the processes increasingly moving to digital platforms.

For those confident using modern devices, this transition offers convenience and efficiency. However, many people risk being left behind. Older generations who did not grow up with digital tools, or individuals who lacked access to computers, laptops or mobile phones, may find themselves unsure how to complete important online forms without help.

CETMA, in partnership with WeAreGroup, provides free UK‑wide support with a wide range of these online forms through the HMCTS Courts Contract. Support sessions can be delivered remotely via phone or video call, or in person at any CETMA office. The service covers numerous online forms, including:

  • SJS (Single Justice Service) – For entering a plea after being charged with an offence and arranging payment plans for fines.
  • OCMC (Online Civil Money Claims) – For making or responding to money claims involving individuals or businesses.
  • Divorce – For those whose legally recognised marriage has irretrievably broken down, whether applying alone or jointly.
  • Probate – Grants permission for executors or relevant parties to manage a deceased person’s estate.
  • PCOF (Post Court Options Form) – Used after the SJS process to challenge decisions, review fines or request a case reopening.
  • Employment Tribunal – For workplace disputes involving pay, rights, discrimination, harassment or unfair dismissal.
  • IAC (Immigration & Asylum Chamber) – For appealing Home Office decisions relating to safety, family life or citizenship.
  • GRC (Gender Recognition Certificate) – For individuals seeking legal recognition of their affirmed gender and updating official documents.
  • Deed Poll – For legally changing a name, including applications on behalf of minors.
  • Private Family Law – For resolving disputes about children’s living arrangements, time with family members or decisions about education and travel.
  • Jury Service – For responding to a jury summons, providing details or requesting changes or excusal.

New forms are regularly added to the contract, meaning even more free support will become available over time.

CETMA’s Digital Inclusion Manager, Elian Williams, emphasised the importance of the service:

“CETMA have been working on the Courts Contract ever since the initial pilot period of the scheme. Over multiple years of operation, we have seen first-hand just how valuable this service is to so many people in Wales & throughout the entire United Kingdom. The people we support regularly express immense gratitude to our team & say how they’d have never been able to do the online forms expected of them unaided.”

“CETMA have worked in Digital Inclusion for even longer, so we understand the importance of this kind of service. And we thank WeAreGroup for continuing to be such good partners as we continue to work on the Courts Contract to support those in need throughout the UK.”
