Adult Learners’ Week has been hailed a success in promoting lifelong learning to residents of Neath Port Talbot.
Neath Port Talbot Council’s Libraries Team arranged a series of events throughout last week to raise awareness of the endless opportunities of adult learning. There were a number of events and taster sessions from jewellery and cupcake decorating demonstrations to first aid and IT training.
The aim of the week was to encourage adults to take up learning, whether to acquire a new skill, increase confidence, improve job prospects or simply learn something new.
The events started on Saturday 13th June at Port Talbot Library and finished at Cwmafan Library on Friday 19th June. One of the highlights of the week included a talk from author Tracy Rees at Pontardawe Library. Tracy won the prestigious ‘Richard & Judy Search for a Bestseller Competition 2014’.
Councillor Ali Thomas OBE, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said:
“The awareness raising activities put on by the Libraries are pivotal in offering our residents the chance to fulfil their potential. These types of workshops and demonstrations can help lead people into further training opportunities and enhance their learning.”
