Hello everybody! My name is Miles, I’m delighted to introduce myself as your new Carmarthenshire LGBTQ+ coordinator. Yes, I’m another English relocation boy, but I’m getting immersed in the Welsh Dragon!
Me and the hubby moved to Wales just over 6 months ago and we are totally loving it. Located a few miles west of Newcastle Emlyn on the Carmarthen/Ceredigion border. Absolutely love the beautiful countryside and our doggo has two tails now I think! He’s so excited to be in the countryside.
I’m really keen to help the community grow and develop, so please do get involved and contribute to the fun. We plan to step up activities with more Twitter, Facebook and events – so stay tuned. Also, I’m here to help with the challenges some of us face. Growing up in suburban SE London, well N Kent! I’ve certainly seen some “#interesting” things in my time!
I came out at 18 in the mid ’80s which was a very important time for Gay culture. I’m sure most of you have seen “It’s a Sin” on C4 – if not, you really must, yes, it’s tear jerking at some points but also really uplifting at other times – strongly recommended!
What I particularly like is that it shows the challenges my generation faced and we continue to do – albeit most things have massively improved. I absolutely understand about good health and looking after yourself!
Not only but also, as a former “club boy” I’m always up for new experiences and clubbing/social times. As we move forward I’ll share some stories with you all – I’ve had some great times on the scene.
Like some of you no doubt I’ve also experienced discrimination and one nasty incident back in the 90’s. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love to share and work with people, so I’m happy to be in a position where I can “care and share” some of the things that have happened to me over my 30 odd years as an out gay man.
