Carmarthenshire LGBTQ+ Project has received a Community Cohesion Grant from the Welsh Government for LGBTQ+ History Month Event, and Unveils Plans for the Next Year.

With a new project co-ordinator in post, the Carmarthenshire LGBTQ+ project has some exciting plans for the next year. The project is advancing with their goal of setting up and supporting several LGBTQ+ Support Groups across Carmarthenshire. They have also been given the green light by their National Lottery Community Fund Grant Officer to create an innovative and community driven trans+ support network.

This network will focus on supporting the trans+ community across the county and will include separate safe spaces and systems for adults and young people with strict safeguarding measures in place.

The project has also been delighted to secure a grant for an event at the National Botanical Gardens for LGBTQ+ History month. This event will run from the 31st January until the 6th February and will include a large event on the 5th February which will include local people as well as workshops on hate crime, LGBTQ+ History and so much more!

We are incredibly grateful to the Welsh Government for this funding and will be looking at securing other grants to make the event something memorable for all the right reasons.

We need you!

We need people from the LGBTQ+ community to form a new steering group for the project. You will have a real say over the direction of the project and what we do.

The commitment involves attending meetings around six times a year and belonging to an online chat where you will receive surveys and have a chance to input information relating to the project. We want people from all walks of life and all ages. If you are interested in this or supporting the project in other ways please contact Sarah on sarah@carmslgbtqplus.org.uk.
