This year, all three CETMA locations are proud to take part in Get Online Week, a nationwide initiative led by the Good Things Foundation. The campaign aims to help thousands of people build confidence with digital skills and discover the many ways being online can make life easier. As our world grows increasingly digital, learning how to use the internet safely and effectively has never been more essential.
According to research by the Good Things Foundation, around 90% of current job vacancies are only posted online. However, more than one in four people admit they don’t feel confident using the internet when searching for work. The same study revealed that shopping online can save people an average of £3.29 per purchase, yet one in ten still feel uncertain about managing their finances digitally.
CETMA’s centres in Llanelli, Kidwelly, and Swansea are ready to support anyone who wants to improve their online skills. Visitors can speak to a trained Officer who can offer free guidance on a wide range of topics — from online banking and job searching to using the NHS App and more.
Elian Williams, CETMA’s Digital Inclusion Officer, said:
“Digital Skills are now essential in everyday life. There are so many advantages to being online, and many people find it’s easier than they first thought. By taking part in Get Online Week, we want to help even more members of our community gain the confidence to get connected and enjoy those benefits.”
