A DUNGEONS and dragons day is among the fun being made available at historic Oystermouth Castle this summer.
The event, taking place in the castle grounds on August 22, includes storytelling, puppetry and dragon processions.
Swansea Council is behind the fun.
Other activities taking place at the castle in coming weeks include a number of crafty fun for children workshops aimed at three to 11-year-olds. They’ll be taking place every Wednesday and Friday in August.
Three outdoor theatre performances are also being held at the castle: The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny on August 13; A Midsummer Night’s Dream on August 13 and 14; and Charlotte’s Web on August 14.
Storytelling, have-a-go circus skills and guided tours will be held at the castle during a family fun day on August 31.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Oystermouth Castle has been a hugely popular attraction for residents and visitors since it reopened following a conservation project a few years ago. It’s a terrific location for guided tours, craft activities and outdoor theatre. Parents looking for something to do with their children this summer need look no further than the castle because it offers an experience that’s as educational as it is fun.
“Heritage tourism is becoming an increasingly important market in the UK, and we’re well-placed to capitalise on this trend in Swansea because of attractions like Oystermouth Castle.”
The castle is open every day throughout the summer from 11am to 5pm. Features include ancient graffiti art from the 14th Century, a 30-foot high glass bridge and private staircases leading from vaults to rooms once used as banqueting halls.
