The Lighthouse Library Bookswaps is a place for everyone with a passion for reading. It was built for the community to socialise and share their passion for reading. It is for all ages.
Due to closure when Covid-19 struck, Hannah Gallagher Horton was unable to get books from charity shops, libraries or boot sales as she would have normally done. However, she came across an idea on Pinterest in the United States and decided to act on it.
Hannah’s husband Marcus Horton built the hut for Hannah in 2021. The hut was built so that members of the community could donate books for others in the community, so they too could be given the opportunity to read the books.
2 weeks in and it had become busy and rather popular throughout the Covid-19 lockdowns.
On the 7th May 2022, it held its grand opening in its new home. Upon speaking to Hannah, who seemed very exciting and happy to upgrade from the hut to a building. She described the grand opening to be “better than expected and very busy.”
When asking what Hannah’s future plans were for the ‘Lighthouse Library Bookswap’ she responded:
“There’s an author in June, game nights, book club. There are future plans to expand in other communities.”
The Lighthouse Library Bookswap is currently looking for volunteers and donations for books, games and video games. It’s located sandwiched between the Co-Op and the chip shop in Burry Port.
