Six schools from Carmarthenshire have won national recognition in a Welsh Heritage initiative.
Penboyr; Ferryside; Laugharne; Teilo Sant; Johnstown and Heol Goffa were all prizewinners.
The schools were awarded with cash prizes ranging from £200 to £1,000 in the Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative.
The scheme gives all schools the opportunity to undertake heritage projects and to submit them for the nationwide competition.
These projects require research, collection of materials, analysis and evaluation.
They may result in booklets, exhibitions, performances, restoration work, models and materials using information technology and communications technology.
Young peoples’ work is assessed, taking into account the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy and information technology skills.
Pupils are encouraged to involve their community and people of different generations in their projects, and to disseminate their findings.
The work of schools will be on display at Carmarthen County Museum in Abergwili over the summer.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s education executive board member Cllr Gareth Jones said: “Congratulations to all six schools on very well deserved wins, these are all excellent projects.
“Our heritage is important and it is good to see initiatives such as this encouraging schools to celebrate the rich history and culture of our county.”

- Laugharne Primary School: Laugharne Then and Now
- Ysgol Teilo Sant: Emigrating to Patagonia
- Johnstown Primary: Coracles of Carmarthen
- Ysgol Heol Goffa: Foods in Wales
