WORK by Carmarthenshire schoolchildren depicting the Welsh heritage is being shown at the county museum.
The projects were part of the annual Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative (WHSI), a competition relating to the history of Wales.
Nantgaredig School was presented with a best of category national history shield from St Fagan’s National History Museum, and 12 other Carmarthenshire schools were awarded cash prizes.
Carmarthenshire County Council Chair Cllr Irfon Jones welcomed the pupils to the museum where their projects are being exhibited.
The council’s executive board member for culture Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, and for education Cllr Glynog Davies, both attended the event along with WHSI Chair Catrin Stevens, Carole Jones of Friends of Carmarthenshire County Museum and Jeremy John of the Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society.
Cllr Hughes Griffiths said: “The museum invites schools because it is always impressed by the tremendous quality of work.
“It is really pleasing to see the work that schools do within their local communities, celebrating their heritage and investigating their histories.
“The museum hopes that Carmarthenshire schools will continue to participate in the WHSI and work with the museum for future exhibitions.”
