Thanks to donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to purchase a new active passive trainer therapy bike worth over £7,000 for Ward 9 at Prince Philip Hospital.

The new bike will help facilitate Ward 9 patients’ rehabilitation from illnesses such as stroke and other acquired brain injuries.

Bethan Levy, Specialist Physiotherapist, said: “We’re very grateful that charitable funds have enabled us to purchase this new bike.

“The active passive trainer allows patients to complete aerobic exercise which is hugely beneficial for their rehabilitation. Not only does it support their physical recovery, it can also benefit them psychologically through providing opportunities to exercise and complete a more normal activity that they wouldn’t ordinarily be able to do in hospital.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
