Emma, who lives in Llanelli, has been receiving chemotherapy treatment at Prince Philip Hospital for over 12 months.
As a thank you for the incredible treatment she is receiving, Emma firstly organised an evening of entertainment, hosted by local entertainer Kenny Morris, and then a 24-hour cyclothon on the road circuit at Pembrey Country Park.
Emma said: “The evening of entertainment was held at Morfa Social Club on 5th April and included bingo, a raffle and local artists. The cyclothon was held from midday on 16th May to midday on 17th May. We had people cycling throughout the 24 hours.
“We were worried about ticket sales for the first event. However, it turned out to be a sell out and we couldn’t have asked for better. The second event was challenging, mainly due to the weather, however again, local support was amazing.
“We were really pleased and amazed with the amount raised. We didn’t have a target in mind, as any amount is better than nothing.
“We would like to thank Morfa Social Club, Kenny Morris, Carmarthenshire County Cuncil at Pembrey Country Park, CKs Foodstore, El Pascos and all family and friends who helped and supported both events.”
Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, said: “Wow, to organise two fundraisers whilst going through treatment is an incredible achievement and we can’t express our gratitude to Emma enough.
“The generous charitable donations we receive don’t replace NHS funding. Instead, they are used to provide items and activities above and beyond core NHS expenditure, such as more welcoming surroundings for patients, families and staff, and research into, and the development of, treatments.”
