The Chair of Plaid Cymru Llanelli Branch, Martin Davies, said:
It’s obvious that Labour Party leaders in Llanelli believe they have a divine right to rule and were furious when the good people of Tyisha ejected a sitting Labour member by electing Plaid’s Cllr Terry Davies a year ago.
Terry is a hard working councillor and highly respected in his community, which is the most deprived ward in the area, thanks to decades of Labour neglect.
Terry Davies is passionate about his community, which led to him making some heated remarks.
The Standards Committee obviously came to the conclusion that this was a fairly low-level breach of the Code of Conduct, because they only suspended him from Llanelli Town Council for a period of one month.
But this was not enough for a vindictive element with the Labour Party on the Town Council, who are now waging a proxy war against Plaid Cymru by calling for Clir Terry Davies to be ‘booted out of Plaid.’
This kind of language is hardly surprising when one considers the toxic atmosphere in the Town Council, where a Labour member who went over to Plaid recently left the council altogether after being subjected to abuse and intimidation.
