Neil Hamilton, MS for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP Wales is urging his constituents to ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ next month.
Mr Hamilton, a member of the Climate Change, Environment and Rural Affairs committee, is calling on people living in his Region to take advantage of the UK Government’s scheme and enjoy a half price meal.
He said: “The coronavirus pandemic has affected us all in different ways and many businesses have suffered severely. It is vital we get the economy back on track as soon as possible so small businesses can start earning again and salvaging what they can from the crisis. Here in Wales, we are still playing ‘catch up’ because the Welsh Labour Government has been much slower to ease restrictions than elsewhere in the UK.
“Many businesses in Wales are still unable to open because of Covid so anything we can do to support those who can is welcome.
“From next Monday, August 3 pubs, cafes and restaurants in Wales will be able to welcome back customers inside their premises. This is welcome news but, in my opinion, should have happened much earlier.
“I welcome the UK Government initiative in offering a financial incentive for everyone to eat out in August so now is the time to enjoy going out for a meal with family or friends with the help of Chancellor Rishi Sunak.”
Thanks to the UK Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, people eating out in places including restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, work and school canteens and food halls may be able to enjoy a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks. This can be used as many times as you like.
The scheme runs every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from August 3 – 31. There are no vouchers, no minimum spend and you can also use it at the same time as other offers and discounts.
The discount is automatically available at participating eateries who are registered for the ‘Eat Out Help Out’ scheme. Restaurants taking part in the initiative then claim a reimbursement from the government, which is limited to a maximum of £10 discount per diner. You cannot claim a discount on alcoholic drinks or service charges.
