Curtis Roberts and Tom Harris took on the Goggins Challenge and raised an incredible £1,475 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

The Goggins Challenge is a fitness and mental toughness event inspired by David Goggins, a retired Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, and author.

The gruelling challenge is an extreme endurance test that pushes both the body and mind to the absolute limit, which involves running four miles every four hours for 48 hours.

The pair, who are lifelong members of Llangennech AFC, took on the challenge on 8th May and split the funds between their football club and the chemo unit to thank them for the care that Curtis’ father-in-law received there.

They said: “This challenge was about mental toughness, teamwork, and pushing through discomfort for a truly meaningful cause.

“It was challenging, fun, emotional and exceeded expectations with how many people rallied round to support us on various legs of the challenge and donations. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and generosity.”

Kath Watkins, Senior Sister, said: “On behalf of the staff and patients at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, I would like to thank Curtis and Tom for their fundraising efforts resulting a very generous donation of £1,475.

“We are always looking at ways to improve the environment and improve the way we care for patients within the Chemotherapy Day Unit.  Please be assured that this money will go towards this improvement. Thank you!”

Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you Curtis and Tom for taking on such a gruelling challenge in aid of our charity.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
