This weekend 16th of July, we will see Llanelli Pride taking place; Llanelli Town Council is excited to celebrate that we are the most diverse council in its history. It means we have more councillors from different areas of the community including the LGBTQ+ community. Over the years, the LGBTQ+ community have given so much to Llanelli, from helping with litter picks, taking campaigns forward on Prince Philip Hospital, being part of the emergency services, key workers and so much more.

Deputy Town Council Leader, Cllr Andre McPherson feels this can only be a positive thing, “seeing more diversity on Llanelli Town Council can only make us stronger as a community. Through the Pride family event on the 16th of July, we see that we all have more in common than what divides us.”

Mayor’s Consort Cllr Janet Williams said, “The very first Pride held in Llanelli in 2019 was something that I thought I would never see in my lifetime. We have come so far as a community, and it is a joy to see.”

Newly elected Glanymor Councillor Lillith Fenris said, “It is an incredible honour to be a part of such a diverse council. It’s humbling to represent my community, and I hope that with a group as positive and welcoming as we have, we can encourage more people to engage and become part of Town Council.”
