Carmarthenshire County Council’s Outdoor Recreation Service has received funding under the Local Places for Nature Fund (LPFN) to undertake an exciting habitat creation project named ‘Lliedi Haven’ on a stretch of land of the Millennium Coastal Path between Machynys and North Dock.
A local company ‘Celtic Wildflowers’ have helped with the developing of the project as specialist wildflower suppliers.
Sean Rees and Louvain Roberts, County Councillors of Glanymor Ward said:
“Work has now been completed on the path and includes the creation of a wildflower meadow, natural / horticultural planted beds, more planted trees and shrubs, an interpretation panel, a bee hotel and a pollinator trail.
“New seating has been added to the area so people can sit and take in the views of the Beach area. We are also engaging with the local schools in the Ward and community organisations for them to take ownership in maintaining these areas and developing further biodiversity projects.”
